The Grey Area

Based on the theme of guilt, The Grey Area is the story of myself and a number of friends having a snowball fight at the Holocaust Memorial in Berlin.

Would the survivors of the Holocaust, think a snowball fight at the Memorial in Berlin, as deeply disrespectful. In a place so abstract and vast, which has been designed to disorientate, would they disapprove? I feel guilty but I am uncertain to what level that guilt is. It is a grey area literally and figuratively speaking.

I wanted to incorporate some of the main design aspects of the memorial to give the audience some sort of insight into what it's like. The dust cover consists of a fold out A2 poster, which has a grid of 2,711 blocks or stelae, the exact number of the memorial, to represent its sheer scale and abstract nature.

The text frame proportions are exactly the same as an individual block from the memorial and the white space around the text box is the same as the surrounding area to the neighbouring blocks.
